Rural Leaders works with stakeholders and industry networks as well as programmes’ alumni to ensure New Zealand remains a global leader in the food and fibre sector. They run the Nuffield New Zealand, Kellogg Rural Leadership and Value Chain Innovation programmes.
As part of the Nuffield Triennial, they organised the 2023 Rural Leaders Agribusiness Summit titled “Forefront” on 27th March 2023. Attended by over 500 Nuffield alumni and other agribusiness leaders, the Summit was about promoting global vision, leadership and innovation by demonstrating some of the practical solutions to mitigate the challenges facing agribusiness the world over.
The Rural Leaders Agribusiness Summit was strongly focused on ESG, the environmental, social and governance commitments for businesses and industries which are now demanded by consumers and investors. It examined climate action policy and solutions for agriculture, the impact of environmental non-tariff barriers on trade deals, the social licence to on-farm renewable energy, the potential from the ocean, and the challenges of recruitment and retention of talent in the sector – among many other pressing topics.
