]]> A Dairy Farmer from Durrow, Co Laois, the late Padraig Washe was awarded a Nuffield Scholar in 1996. He was Chairman of the Irish Scholars from 2004-2006.  Up to his death in February 2023, he chaired Farmer Business Developments plc and continued as a director of FBD. He was former President of IFA (2006-2010), Macra na Feirme (1987-1989) and COPA (EU Farmers Union) (2009-2011).

In a tribute to Padraig and his legacy, Nuffield Ireland will present the first Padraig Walshe Award at the Nuffield Ireland annual conference 2023 to the best returning Nuffield Scholar presentation.

Ireland’s place in the world of milk production in the new century.
