]]> A beef, tillage and sheep farmer from Ballacolla, Co Laois, he is married to Margaret. He has been actively involved in the Irish Farmers Association for many years, and has held the positions of Treasurer, chairman of the Livestock Committee, chairman of the Renewable Energy committee, was South Leinster Vice President of IFA and was a director of Agri Aware. He is a currently a company director of Farmer Business Developments plc and the FDB Trust.

His Study topic was ‘Beef Breeding Technology & Practice in the Suckler Herd’, and he travelled to Australia, USA, France and Italy in the course of his study.

]]> Grainne Dwyer is currently Chairperson of Nuffield Ireland. Grainne is an experienced communications and events professional and has worked for many years in this capacity in the agriculture and animal health sectors.

Grainne worked for several years in the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland in a number of roles including administrator of their professional indemnity insurance. In more recent years, Grainne was General Secretary of the Irish Grassland Society, a position she held for eight years.  In 2007 she left the IGA to set up her own company, Nore Conference Services acting as a Consultant to several major agricultural events, including the Nuffield International Conference. In 1999, Grainne was the first woman in Ireland to be awarded a Nuffield Scholarship.

Her study topic was looking at the role of women in agriculture.  She travelled to Norway, France, New Zealand and Australia to research her subject.

Grainne was elected to the Nuffield Ireland board in 2023.
