]]> Michael works with the Department of Agriculture and has held a variety of posts in the meat division, farm development service, CAP schemes supervision and now is based in the District Veterinary Office in Tipperary. He has been engaged in part-time farming since 1991 where the main enterprises are beef sucklers and sheep production. He converted to organic farming in 1998 and was involved in setting up the Cahir Farmer’s Market. 

His study topic was ‘The Social and Economic Benefits of Farmers Markets’. He travelled extensively in the USA, and also travelled to the UK, Spain, Austria, Slovenia, Lebanon, Australia and New Zealand.

]]> Pat owns a dairy enterprise with his family in Scariff Co Clare. He was appointed to the Board of Kerry Group Plc in January 2003 and held this position for a number of years. He was also a Director of Kerry Co-Op. Pat is very involved in rural and community development initiatives as well as coaching hurling and camogie teams in his area.

Pat’s study topic was ‘Can the Irish Dairy Industry Survive Liberalisation in 2015?’ He visited the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Estonia, USA and New Zealand in the course of his research on the topic.
