He was formerly CEO at XLVets Ireland; a professional association for veterinary practices and part of an international veterinary business network. Founder and Executive Consultant at XLVets Skillnet; a veterinary training company and recognised as Ireland’s Best Learning and Development Network (2016) by the Irish Institute of Training and Development.  Provides specialised consultancy services in Strategic Planning. Holds an MBA, MSc (Finance), L9 Diploma in Executive Coaching from Irish Management Institute and BSc Environmental Science (1:1).</p>
<p>Farming enterprises include beef finishing, forestry and energy cropping.</p>
<p>Geoff was the Chairman of Nuffield Ireland 2016-2019.</p>

<p>His study topic was ‘Bioenergy; Empowering Farmers in a Globalised Economy’. He travelled to Denmark, Belgium, USA (Minnesota and Illinois, Missouri, Florida) and Switzerland.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>John Geraghty is from Kilsheelan, near Carrick-on-Suir, in Co Tipperary. He holds both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Agricultural Science from University College Dublin (UCD), and a diploma in Tropical Agriculture and Rural Sociology from the German Institute for Tropical and Sub-Tropical Agriculture.</p>
<p>He initially worked in agricultural research and development in West Africa, and until the end of the nineties in emergency food operations with the World Food Programme in southern Africa. On returning to Ireland in 2000 he established Geraghty Consulting which provides consultancy services in conservation agriculture development and sustainable crop-livestock integrated systems. In addition to working with Irish farmers his consultancy work has taken him across Europe, to Africa, the Americas, and Asia. Since he completed his Nuffield he also got involved in curriculum development at third level and is a lecturer in land management with Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) and a visiting lecturer in sustainable agriculture in UCD. He has developed university programmes in conservation agriculture, pest management, sustainable agricultural policy, and sustainable water management, and has contributed to the development of a new MSc programme in Organic and Biological Agriculture in WIT.</p>
<p>His Nuffield study topic was <strong>Conservation Agriculture – Learning from the South American Experience</strong>. He travelled to Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Paraguay and Uruguay where he interviewed farmers, land managers and researchers as part of his study.</p>
