										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A dairy farmer from Durrow, Co Laois, he is actively involved in the ‘Acorn’ discussion group. He has been chairman and held other officer positions in his local branch of IFA. He was also an active member of Macra na Feirme. Seamus raised funds for Self-Help Africa, a charity which implements agricultural and rural development projects in conjunction with local community based organisations, government agencies, international NGOs and private sector partners mainly in East Africa.</p>
<p>His study topic was ‘<strong>Optimising the Grazing Platform’</strong> and he travelled to Australia and New Zealand to conduct his study.</p>

He also aims to find how the different breed goals and breed models could be used to improve the breeding of internationally competitive sport horses in Ireland.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Derek is a Civil Engineer from Co Cavan, who was reared on a dairy farm. He purchased land and built up a beef fattening business. He and his wife also run a self-catering enterprise with two high quality houses. He is MD of Sheelin &amp; McCabe, which provides architectural, engineering and planning services.</p>
<p>He is very active in his local community, and was chair of the Cavan-Monaghan Rural Development Co-op (LEADER). He is active in a number of other local community bodies. He is also a Board member of Extern, a social justice charity supporting children, young people and families.</p>
<p>His study topic was <strong>‘Carbon Sequestration in Forestry</strong>’, and he travelled to the UK, France, Italy, and United Arab Emirates in conducting this study.<br />

<p>Tadhg is a Board member of Nuffield Ireland.</p>
